“Beirut Swimmers and Other Gentlemen of Sport”, 1940s – 70s”

There is a box of sports photographs in Diab’s archive – action shots, endless posing teams, individual sportsmen, training, winning, losing, resting.   Most of them are amateurs and workers’ teams, few professional or semi-professinal tournaments, dedicated and passionate – men of all ages and spanning all decades of the archive.

There could be a book dedicated to a male body image and culture of sport in the Middle East edited out of this box…   I don’t think that ours will follow that particular path, but here are few special ones, each one a winner.  (A.D.)
