SPACE Youth Film Project, 13th October, 2010

Established in 2008, Urban Dynamik TV is SPACE’s youth media training programme.  Funding partners include Olympic Host Boroughs, LDA, LSE, and Hackney Council.  The aims of the programme are to engage hard to reach young people and offer them industry standard training in film making and multi-media skills.  Young people on the programme achieve an Arts Award Qualification at Level 1 or 2, and also work experience opportunities, along with employment and further education pathways.  The three submitted films were from the final group, which was Olympic Host Borough funded.  Participants were drawn from the five Olympic host boroughs and the majority of participants are considered NEET or at risk of being NEET (not in employment, education and training).
One of the films, ‘One Homeless Minute‘ was made by three young men, Adrian Aitkinson, Emmaunel Odusami and Tope Ibitoye, interested in making a video reflecting on life without a home.  The film focuses on the thoughts and feelings of one’s person’s experience of being homeless.  They came to Ania Dabrowska’s studio to film and interview Gary, one of the Arlington residents.
